My name is Jennifer (Stahler) Jervis. I am 24 years old, have brown hair, blue eyes, and 5’3”. I was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on September 27th, 1988 at Mary Rutan Hospital. My family has lived in the same house since I was born, on Ashbrook Dr. My parents, Ben (Pharmacist) and Sara Stahler (Elementary Art Teacher), who have been married since 1983. I have an older sister, Lauren Burkhardt (26, who is married to Mike Burkhardt and expecting their first baby) and a younger brother, Rob Stahler (22, who is studying to be a Pharmacist). My parents love traveling, so my siblings and I were lucky to go on most vacations with them. Our regular family trip was to drive down to Siesta Key, Florida every summer, but we also have been to England, Italy, France, and several places across the U.S. I love going to Walt Disney World and going on cruises. I also travel to Puerto Penasco, Mexico with my husband’s family yearly. I started dating my husband, Jesse Jervis, in September of 2005. We met in high school when I was a junior and he was a freshman. We both went to college at the University of Akron. We decided to move to Maricopa, Arizona, where a lot of his family members also lives. Jesse has a big family, which consist of his dad Bill Jervis, (step-dad) Arden Neer Jr. and mom Suz Neer. Siblings include: Billy Jervis, Arden “Bear” Neer III, Bowan Jervis, Jason Jervis, and Nicki Russo, and newborn William H. Jervis III. We got married in April of 2011, after the birth of our daughter Zoe. She was born in Chandler, Arizona on January 30, 2011. A few months after she was born, we moved back home to Ohio, and now live back in Bellefontaine.

I began my education in the Bellefontaine City School District; Southeastern Elementary, Bellefontaine Middle School, and Bellefontaine High School. I initially went to the University of Akron to study nursing, but quickly changed my major to Graphic Design, which I studied for 3 years. I put my education on hold as I moved to Arizona and worked as a Shift Manager at CVS. After I moved back to Ohio, I started attending Ohio Northern University, and changed my major to Art Education. My projected graduation date is May of 2014.

Reasons I want to be an Art Teacher:
My grandma was the art teacher at the Bellefontaine Middle School for 25 years.
My sister is a very creative Kindergarten teacher and I aspire to show her same creativity in my own classroom.
My mom is now currently the art teacher in the 4-5 Elementary building in Bellefontaine and I share her teaching style. I hope to gain as much skill in classroom management and creative lessons like she uses in her classroom.

Future Goals:
I hope to instill a love for art into each student I teach and help to inspire students to be creative in all areas of their life (outside the art classroom). I hope to teach in Logan County. I will strive to keep my classroom current with technology/media and to do exciting and usable projects with my students.
